Operation Procedure:
Once you have unpacked your raft, unfold it and lay it out putting the floor into it before inflating.
Using the foot pump fill up the two side compartments and then the floor. Each valve will take about 60 seconds to fill. Please note that each valve has a lock so you must lightly push it in and turn to allow the one way valve to operate. When deflating push in valve and make a ¼ turn to release air. Store unit deflated, with check valves locked and in the bag supplied. The foot pump can be used to suck the remaining air out of the boat for storage.
If you have purchased the 3-point spider fill hose which is an optional item, it is important to not over fill the raft as it is designed to hold 5psi maximum and the floor is 10psi maximum. Same process must be used with valves as with foot pump. Note with spider you can shut off the two pontoons and continue to fill the floor.
Spider operations: Your rescue raft comes with three fill chambers. Each chamber has its own check valve. These check valves can be opened to drain the air before storing your rescue boat away. Note: it is recommended you store your boat with the check valves closed as they should be closed during filling, so the air does not leak out when removing the fill hose.
If using the spider fill connection, you can hook up all three valves at once and fill direct from a SCBA bottle, either 4500 or 2216psi. Caution not to over fill as 5psi is all that is needed. All check valves should remain closed. Once the boat is filled shut off all valves before removing the connections to prevent air from leaking out. Then twist each valve connection off and if you had remembered to leave the internal valves closed the air will not bleed out.
It is very important for your department to train on filling and deflating this boat so there is no surprises at an emergency scene.
